I'm wanting to buy a new acoustic guitar. Any of you guitar studs have any recommendations?
The four leading candidates right now are a Lowden, an Avalon, a Larivee, and (gasp) a solid graphite Rainsong.
The Rainsong is the most expensive and it's weird... it's not made of wood. It's made of graphite and it sounds unbelievable... but traditionalists tend to scoff it. I used to do the same until I saw David Wilcox a few weeks ago and that's all he played. The thing about it is that it never needs tuning... you can take it from the trunk of your car on a hot day into an igloo to play a concert for eskimos and it will stay in perfect tune.
The Lowdens are awesome and I like the smaller body size... same with the Avalons... basically the same guitar, but a little cheaper. I like some of the Larivees too and there is a dealer in town that stocks those... the others I'll have to order.
Anyway, your thoughts?
I'm keeping my Taylor 414CE by the way... I still like it pretty well.

Elloree? I here rave reviews from everybody. I think I am going to get an old electric of mine repaired through them(him)

I hadn't thought of that. My only concern with something like that is that I'd have to order it and then have it built and if I didn't like it when it was done, that'd just be too bad.
Although, I've also heard good things about his guitars. Andy Osenga played an Elloree baritone guitar and a Mando-guitar on "lower than the angels".
