Has the world gone mad? For the first time in countless years, UT's men's basketball team is enjoyable to watch. Meanwhile, the coach with the best winning percentage in NCAA Football history has his worst year and now they get the 24th best recruiting class while rivals Florida & LSU get richer, which basically assures them of being awful for another year or so. Put in Jim Bob Cooter!!!
If the Vols don't make a bowl next season or if they don't win 9-10 games again, would you fire Fulmer? Would you fire him if he looses to Spurrier again?
On one side, Bruce Pearl seems to be taking some of the heat off Fulmer, but come August, the pressure on him will be higher since UT has a competitive Basketball team finally. Maybe I'm missing something, but it doesn't look good for the Big Orange nation next fall.

Pearl is doing anything but easing the heat... he's putting it on... now people are going to expect football to step it up.
Don't put too much in recruiting... any study of the "top 10 recruiting classes" looking back 4 years later will show that sometimes a top class on paper doesn't shape up... the UT class of 95 that yielded the championship team of 98 was a very average class on paper... they overachieved.
The key to UTs season is going to be how well they come out of the gates with a new offense. Cutcliff is supposedly changing the playbook a good deal (which is badly needed). Unfortunately, there's not any room for error... our first game is against a California team that is consensus top 15 going into the season... they were good last year and have everyone back. It's going to be a tough test.
My take is that Fulmer certainly needs to improve next year or he's gone... he is not untouchable and 5-6 seasons with losses at home to Vandy and South Carolina are completely unacceptable by anyone's standards. I think he needs to probably win 8-9 games this year... it's a 12 game schedule, so that's not unreasonable. Our schedule is again, really tough. At least this year most of our really hard games are at home....
we'll see what happens.

I would say something but Kentucky isn't having a good year at all. And they never have a good year in football. So.... yeah.

2 things ...
1. why did lofton touch the ball like 5 times in the whole second half? 2. THE PRESS DOESN'T WORK!!!! In the first game, UK beat it every time and it always led to an easy layup. Game 2, same results. Is Pearl an idiot or the most stubborn coach in the game? It worked a couple times, but more often than not, they'd throw the ball the midcourt, have an odd man break and get an easy layup. 15-19 in the second half is so stupid. Pearl lost that game with his coaching.

Pearl is a magician! The #3 recruiting class in the nation?!! That's ridiculous. 2 yrs ago, UT Ball wasn't even a blip on the radar. They grabbed 4 of the top 75 high school players in the country not to mention Chris Lofton and Wingate are coming back. LSU will still be the team to beat with Big Baby sticking around even though tyrus thomas is jumping ship, but UT's freshman class should be fun to watch. Now if he could just go coach Ainge on proper throwing mechanics..all would be back to normal in knoxville.

Back to normal? Since when is having a good basketball program normal?
Things are WAY better than normal... word on the street is that Ainge is looking pretty good... we'll see though. We have such a brutal football schedule...
I'm honestly more excited about next basketball season right now than I am next football season.
