Dustin Kensrue put out a solo album that I really enjoy. Not your typical christian radio music which is totally refreshing to me. Acoustic, Bluesy, ... kind of reminds me of Derek Webb's "She must and Shall Go Free" although the writing on that album is some of my all time favorite so it's not quite on par with D. Webb.
Cool Hand Luke - Balancing Act. This album confuses me. It's mellow, piano-driven rock with the exception of 3 songs in the middle that go full bore screamo... no joke, piano-led screamo. that's a first for me. Thought provoking lyrics keep me listening albeit i gotta be in a mood for it.
Brandi Carlisle - I like what I've heard of her new "lullaby" album which is a stretch for me b/c country sounds usually last 5 seconds with me. She managed to keep my attention long enough to find that I enjoy her stuff.
Jackson Waters - Another "countryesque" band that kept my attention. I don't know what's happening to me. Nothing mind-blowing, but enjoyable nonetheless.
This likely won't appeal to many people on here, but ...
Relient K's new album "Five Score and 7 Years Ago" is almost as solid as MMHMM which was outstanding. I'm not a typical fan of Pop-punk, but these guys have good writing, catchy hooks and riffs which makes for great driving music.
