Anyone heard these guys and gals? I just picked up their disc "Rabbit Songs" and I am loving it. It's really, really good. I've also been listening to Frou Frou / Imogen Heap a lot and loving that too. Anybody into either of those?

Okay, seriously... this is probably my favorite new CD I've bought this year. One of the best ever. You MUST check this out. Beautiful, beautiful music.

Hmm... might have to check this one out... I listened to sound clips of Eveningland after someone talked about it over on Andy O's blog, but I couldn't really get into it... maybe it was a twinge of Karen Carpenter feel... oh well, i'll have to give Rabbit Songs a listen. Thanks for the advice!
sean (needs to hear more Imogen Heap before making a decision about techno pop)

Hey, techno pop isn't really my thing either, but there's something about Imogen I really like... I think it's the creativity she puts into her production... it's always coming from a direction I wasn't expecting.
Also, Rabbit Songs is the better of the two Hem records... and come on with the Karen Carpenter man... that's harsh!

What? O=) Sorry ... I don't have much exposure to her, just a documentary I've seen and my dad's casual enjoyment of her music... I guess I haven't yet gotten into that retro "let's sound like the 70s but not be from the 70s" thing (I think like the Innocence Mission's sound on "Befriended" -- granted, not that they have bad songs but the music is a little fishy to me...) ... of course, I've always been a musical minimalist myself ... piano, guitar, uh maybe drums, yeah. Of course, some production does work well (like Sara Groves & Derek Webb's I see things upside down) , but too often it kinda gets in the way. Wow... that was a LOT to type in a short time ... all to say, I like music, and will definitely check out Rabbit Songs... see other forum for what I've been spinning lately (like that matters much ) =).

Sean -
Music Minimalist, eh? Ever listen to Lost And Found? (Hey, I wouldn't be a fangirl if I didn't ask!)
Hmm. . .yeah, guess I'm a music minimalist for the most part, too. I like ballads lots. . .perhaps that's part of the reason WHY. In the CD player lately - Alathea.

Hrm... never heard of them... there's a band listed on iTunes w/ an album "As you sow"... is that them? I'll drop them in my shopping cart (aka place for seldom-bought albums - my testing ground before I make a decision =) ) and check it out. BTW... really excited, got Randall Goodgame's "War and Peace" for early Christmas present! Woohoo! Yay Charlie Brown songs ! (tho I haven't listened to it all the way through) ... um cool on Share the Well songs (likes CC's versions better). Okay ramble over bed time =P

I really love the Peanuts trilogy on Randall's album... those are just so cool and Shive's production is really great. Actually, part two of that song is what made me feel okay about making Connor's Lullaby a 2 minute song on the record... it's supposed to be a 4 minute song with 2 more verses and a bridge, but on the album, we only used one verse and chorus... hearing Randall put such a short, pretty song on his record made me feel like it was okay to do it on mine... it worked so well for him.

Sean, no that's not them. Their albums that you MIGHT find on iTunes would be "This" "Something" "Something Different" and "Pronto." Their website is www.speedwood.com and my fansite for them is www.geocities.com/theweirdguys/And, yeah, I have my posts here all full of Lost And Found lyrics (and the icon I use is also lyrics from one of their songs). It's almost just thanks to them that I know of Jonathan Rundman (plus, I got to meet him back in February). Oooh, Snoopy Songs??? Stein Auf! Bridget
