Okay... I know this is horribly overdone, but for some reason, everyone always loves to share their top 5 desert island CDs. Let's lay down some ground rules:
No, you can't have an Ipod on your desert island. Only a CD player. You can have double discs, but not a box set.
Okay... these might be different next week, but here they are as they come to me right now:
1. The Innocence Mission - Glow ** I've listened to this more than probably anything else I own, and still can't get enough of it. 2. Rich Mullins - A Liturgy, Legacy, and a Ragamuffin Band ** My favorite CD from one of my favorite writers. In my opinion, this is the best CD to ever come out of the "Christian music industry" (TM) 3. Vigilantes of Love - Jugular ** The first and maybe the best disc from the prolific Bill Mallonee. Mostly acoustic guitar and accordion with Bill's signature great lyrics. 4. Patty Griffin - Living with Ghosts ** A girl with a guitar. Oh yeah, the songs are incredible and the voice will melt you. 5. Joni Mitchell - Blue ** This changed my life... I know that's not a very macho or "cool" pick, but man, have you heard this disc? It is an absolute must own. She was so far ahead of her time.

John Scofield - A GO GO...mmmm jazzy guitar on a funky platter. I am so cheesy.
Mute Math - Their only EP (they need something new!)
Greg Adkins - Lower than the Angels. (Just so I can still remember playing in church on Sunday mornings and hearing Greg's honey tenor voice.)
The Dave Brubeck Quartet - Live in Carnegy Hall 1964. (Double Disc) Essential Jazz.
hmmm...
Chicago - Greatest Hits 1982-1989 No explanation needed.

Marcus,
I'm not sure if I'm flattered to be on your list or insulted that I'm on there with Chicago's greatest hits... although, sometimes a solid cheesy love ballad is just what the doctor ordered.
Come on everyone else... I know you're out there... don't you have some favorite records?

Accck! This is NEVER fair! Five CDs and I have to choose from what I've heard. I'll choose from what I've got. . .(I already have quite a list of CDs I want to eventually get)
Lost And Found - Live Concert, Steamboat Museum, February 2002 Don McLean - American Pie Wow 1998 (my favorite year of the WOW CDs) Twila Paris - Perennial (I LOVE this CD for a "bedtime" CD) Lost And Found - Speedwood Hymns
----- Haha, and if this were posted at any different time, the answers may have been COMPLETELY different!

wow.. i joined after this topic was created and I guess I never dug deep enough to find it. That being said.. here's my top 5 DID's as they sit today.
David Crowder Band - Illuminate (Not his most creative album, but I believe the best)
Billy Joel's Greatest Hits - Volumes 1 & 2 (they're a combo pack that shant be separated)
Family Force 5 - Business UP Front, Party in the Back - I'd have lots of time to figure out what the heck they're saying
dang... this is hard...
G'n'R - Appetite for Destruction (gotta have my 80's hair band fix)
Derek Webb - She must and shall go free (I'd start the First Desert Island Christian Vineyard Evangelical Free Church of Christians and use this CD for every service)
Close calls were: Metallica - Black album - I'd have lots of time to get angry and blame God for stuff like Job Les Miserables Soundtrack - my favorite musical w/ JCS a close second Rush - Chronicles - so many classic songs on there
I think that would work for me. A little bit of music for all sorts of moodswings

I think I'll start cheating. Make sure the CD player that I'd happen to have on a deserted island played MP3s and burn the files onto five CD-Rs so I'd have lots more than just five normal CDs. Way too much good music out there for only five CDs!
